Spiral torsion spring

When you think of a spiral torsion spring, you may think of a coiled-up serpent or a slinky toy. But what you may not know is that these springs are one of the most critical parts of nearly every machine and device we use on a daily basis.

They are also a type of adjustable spring that has Tension Spring or rubber bands. Consider how one might twist a rubber band. You are also storing energy, in the rubber band, as you twist it. As you pull, the rubber band stretches and stores that energy; when you let go, it unravels and expels the energy. The same scenario applies to spiral torsion springs.

Design Considerations for Spiral Torsion Springs

The diameter of the wire used, and the distance between coils determine how much torque the Torsion Spring can produce. Engineers also have to think about how much weight or pressure the spring is going to bear, as this will determine how strong the spring must be.

Spiral torsion springs are widely used in several machines and devices. One such Lisheng application is braking systems in vehicles like cars or trucks. In cars, when we press the brake pedal, it activates a spiral torsion spring attached to the brake system, which helps in slowing down the wheels and thus stopping the vehicle.
